Woman cheats death after plunging from cocktail bar balcony in front of shocked holidaymakers
BEACHGOERS at Scarborough seafront were horrified when a young woman plunged three floors from a cocktail bar balcony last night.
The girl in her mid-twenties fell from the top of the three-storey Olympia Centre on the South Bay of the Yorkshire resort on Monday evening, but has survived.
She had been spotted with a group of friends on the sea view balcony moments before the fall.
All of a sudden traffic ground to a halt and people began pouring out of the Olympia Centre’s bar, arcade and bowling.
Visitors enjoying an evening stroll or walking their dogs on the beach were stunned by the horrific scene.
Bystanders were left in shock as the road was cordoned off when police and paramedics arrived.

One man driving along the road with his partner was the first on the scene.
He hit his brakes after spotting the casually dressed woman lying by the roadside.
At first, he thought she was a reveller who had collapsed after having too much to drink but quickly realised the scary truth.
He said: "We were in the car looking for somewhere to park to take the dogs for a walk on the beach when we saw a body laid on the floor.

“We thought she might have been drunk. There was glass on the floor and red stuff - which we thought was lipstick.
“The road was blocked off and the paramedics and police turned up. They did not understand how it happened.
“I think she had fallen from a glass balcony with an outdoor seating area where people can sit and have a drink.
"There were a few people around. They were people coming out of the arcade and saw the body laid there."
He placed a 999 call at 19.53 on Monday night.
He added: "She was a young lass. She cannot have been older than mid-20s.
"She was with a lad who was hysterical and absolutely distraught. She was dressed in a green blouse and trousers.
"The seafront was quiet compared to what is usually is.
“It was shocking. It's a mad thing to see.
"We did not know at first if she was alive or dead.

“She landed outside the main entrance to the arcade, next to the kerb. Me and the car in front stopped."
