Sunderland want talks with Nigel Pearson over becoming new boss after Derek McInnes snub the job
SUNDERLAND want to talk to Nigel Pearson about their vacancy as owner Ellis Short looks for a managerial saviour.
Short has told chief executive Martin Bain to come up with new names after Derek McInnes surprisingly jilted the Black Cats.

And out-of-work Pearson has emerged as the leading contender.
The ex-Leicester City boss has some strong support from the coaching staff left at the Stadium of Light following the exit of David Moyes and Paul Bracewell.
Pearson has been looking for a return since a bad spell at Derby County.
And he could be open to coming back into the hot seat with the relegated outfit.

Sunderland would prefer a manager who is available to answer the call immediately and work within their budget and beside the remaining staff, headed by Robbie Stockdale.
Pearson's old management team are still at the Foxes.
Therefore, he could be happy to team up with Stockdale who has come through the ranks and is liked at the club.

Meanwhile, three diehard Sunderland fans are heading an attempt to buy the club from Short.
Fans Leo Pearlman and brothers Ben and Gabe Turner co-own Class of 92 film producers Fulwell73, which is named after an end at the club’s old Roker Park stadium and the club’s 1973 FA Cup win.
England and Arsenal legend Tony Adams is pals with Ben Turner and is advising the group.

Short wants around £85million for the Championship club.
He has already had talks with a German group, who bid around £50m, while a US consortium has also expressed interest.
The Sunderland-supporting group are still trying to raise funds but want to make an offer by the end of the month.
