Jon Snow's sword Longclaw did NOT come to life, says Game Of Thrones director who claims it must be

A GAME Of Thrones director has shot down theories that Jon Snow’s sword came to life in Monday’s episode.

Eagle-eyed viewers were convinced Longclaw blinked as the King of the North climbed out of the frozen lake.

But episode director Alan Taylor says fans are looking too much into it.

“That is so funny,” he told Insider. “Somebody else mentioned that to me, and I haven’t got a clue what they’re talking about.

“So either this sword is magic and it’s doing stuff on its own, or something happened.

"I’m going to have to go back and watch that moment close up and in slow motion to see what’s going on there.

“I can say that there was no intention for that to be the case.”

Jon was battling white walkers north of the wall and nearly died for a second time when he plunged into icy waters.

Game of Thrones viewers breathed a sigh of relief when Jon used his sword to help pull himself out of the water.

Many viewers thought they noticed something strange about the handle, which is carved into the head of a dire wolf.

The carving seemed to open it eyes as Jon emerged from the lake, and fans were convinced there was a hidden meaning to the scene.

Jon was rescued from the walking dead by his uncle Benjen, who sacrificed himself so his younger relative could get away on his horse.

Jon was later seen recovering in bed at The Wall with Daenerys Targaryen by his side as they prepare for next week's grand finale.

Viewers flocked to Twitter at the end of Monday’s show to discuss the sword theory, with many pointing out the carving seemed to come to life.

One wrote: "Hang on, did Jon Snow's sword come to life on GoT?"

Another added: "Jon Snow sword is alive!?! Hw cm i dint realize this b4  #GoTS7e6."

A third wrote: "Is it just me or did Jon Snow's sword just blink? #WhatTheF***! #GoTS7."

Director Alan did not provide an explanation as to why the sword appears to blink.

The episode previously featured a conversation between Jon and his travelling companion Ser Jorah Mormont about the sword in question.

The former member of the Night's Watch revealed Longclaw belonged to Ser Jorah's father Jeor Mormont, who served with him and gave it to him before he died.

Meanwhile, the Game Of Thrones cast salaries have been revealed – and Emilia Clarke and Kit Harrington earn £390,000 an episode.

And, fans have an epic prediction for who will end up killing the Night King… and it’s not Jon Snow.
