Chicago Fire star leaving series after 10 seasons as shocked fans beg for show to be canceled
CHICAGO FIRE star Kara Killmer has been confirmed to be leaving the drama as of Season 12 after 10 seasons.
Kara will be making her final appearance as paramedic Sylvie Brett when Season 12 of Chicago Fire premieres in early 2024.

According to TVLine, there's no timetable for when or how Kara will leave the show.
The actress, 35, originally joined the Chicago Fire cast during its Season 3 premiere.
As Sylvie, Kara ended up replacing the late paramedic Leslie Shay, portrayed by Lauren German.
Sylvie was paired with Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) in Season 11 as she proclaimed him her "perfect person."

The pair ended up splitting due to the challenge of long distance dating.
Jesse exited the series around this time as well.
However, only a few episodes later, Sylvie had begun dating again.
This upset "Brettsey" fans who were invested in Sylvie's relationship.

Now, Kara's exit from Chicago Fire as a whole has fans up in arms as well.
Distraught and angry fans have turned to X, formerly known as Twitter, to air their frustrations.
"Can we just cancel it at this point? Show isn't the same," one fan penned.
"At this point cancel the shows," another viewer echoed.
"Not a great sign. I thought Kara loved the Chicago franchise," a third viewer commented.
Some fans begged for a happy ending for Kara's character and asked her to be paired once more with Casey.
"Please don’t kill her off and give her a happy ending with Casey," a hopeful fan suggested.
Another assumed this “spoiled the cliffhanger from the last season” as Season 11 ended with Casey proposing to Brett, and Kara’s exit might spell her saying yes and moving to be with him.
Why did Taylor Kinney leave Chicago Fire?
Kara is far from the only actor to exit Chicago Fire.
One such member of the cast, Taylor Kinney, who played Lieutenant Kelly Severide, joined in 2012.
But in January 2023, Taylor was reported to taking a break from the hit show for an unspecified amount of time.
The actor is taking a leave of absence due to an undisclosed personal matter, according to Variety.
However, he will be returning for Season 12 of the drama.
Why did Jesse Spencer leave Chicago Fire?
In addition to Taylor Kinney's short-lived absence, another Chicago Fire star also left the show.
Previously, actor Jesse Spencer decided to leave the series as well.
While he is happy to take on new challenges in his acting career, Jesse has expressed a hint of sadness upon leaving the show.
He made it clear that his departure "was a difficult decision" as he has been a familiar face on Chicago Fire for close to a decade.
"I realized I've been doing TV for a long time", he told TV Line.
"I added it up, and I think this year is my 18th year of network television."
"I said I thought it was time to leave the show, and he agreed that we should at least get Casey to 200 episodes."
"It was a difficult decision because I've loved the show from the start, but there are other things I'd like to do in the future and there's some family to take care of."
But his departure could be far from permanent.

Speaking to Deadline on October 20, 2021, Jesse vaguely hinted that he would not rule out a return of his character as of yet.
"I think it was pretty organic that he's leaving and he's going for three years but is he? We don't know", he said.
